Winter cracked rock
My least favorite season is here. At least for now. Another snow storm may send it away. But there is much to celebrate. Along the beach it is the season of cracked rocks, still clinging together, victims of winter freezes. And we welcome back our old friends the waves, who once were hidden under a white wasteland of snow and ice. Puddin’ stones, Petoskey stones, pink quart and more, all Easter eggs strewn along the shore. In marshy areas willow buds burst forth into the blue, while brave crocuses poke up through the garden. Suddenly one day you know all the birds are back because there is a skyful of raucus song.
